Faculty – Science

About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory

high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets

numbering up to 1,000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum

on the high school level and is currently developing a new middle school.

Position: New Mexico Military Institute seeks an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member to teach junior

college and high school Science courses beginning in Spring 2024. Faculty – Science furthers the mission of

the New Mexico Military Institute, most specifically, the academic ends of a liberal arts education through the

development of cadet thinking, acquiring knowledge, and communication. NMMI values diversity among its

faculty. This is a 9-month full-time position. The salary range is $50,000.00 to $94,600.00 per year. The job

Tasks:

 Teach high school and/or college courses in the academic discipline(s) of Science within the Science Department; subjects taught may include

but are not limited to Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, Engineering, and Physics.

 Prepare course syllabi in accordance with the prescribed format used in the department.

 Prepare instructions in accordance with the approved course syllabi.

 Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

 Factual familiarity with the subject matter in teaching areas.

 Factual familiarity with learning skills in teaching areas.

 Familiarity with science laboratory procedures/techniques, use of equipment, and safety.

 Be familiar with and abide by regulations established in the Faculty Handbook, NMMI Operations, and Procedure Manual. Be familiar

with the Corps of Cadets Manual (Blue Book).

Qualifications:

Required:

 A Master’s degree in Science or a related field (with 18 credit hours in Science required) at the time of the initial contract or, in exceptional

cases, one obtained within five years of the initial contract.

 A minimum of one year teaching experience at the high school level.

Preferred:

 Teaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels to include full-time, adjunct, or graduate teaching assistant positions.
