Faculty – Science
About New Mexico Military Institute: NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory
high school and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. With a Corps of Cadets
numbering up to 1,000 young men and women, NMMI provides an accredited college preparatory curriculum
on the high school level and is currently developing a new middle school.
Position: New Mexico Military Institute seeks an open-rank, tenure-track faculty member to teach junior
college and high school Science courses beginning in Spring 2024. Faculty – Science furthers the mission of
the New Mexico Military Institute, most specifically, the academic ends of a liberal arts education through the
development of cadet thinking, acquiring knowledge, and communication. NMMI values diversity among its
faculty. This is a 9-month full-time position. The salary range is $50,000.00 to $94,600.00 per year. The job

Tasks:
Teach high school and/or college courses in the academic discipline(s) of Science within the Science Department; subjects taught may include
but are not limited to Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, Engineering, and Physics.
Prepare course syllabi in accordance with the prescribed format used in the department.
Prepare instructions in accordance with the approved course syllabi.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
Factual familiarity with the subject matter in teaching areas.
Factual familiarity with learning skills in teaching areas.
Familiarity with science laboratory procedures/techniques, use of equipment, and safety.
Be familiar with and abide by regulations established in the Faculty Handbook, NMMI Operations, and Procedure Manual. Be familiar
with the Corps of Cadets Manual (Blue Book).
Qualifications:
Required:
A Master’s degree in Science or a related field (with 18 credit hours in Science required) at the time of the initial contract or, in exceptional
cases, one obtained within five years of the initial contract.
A minimum of one year teaching experience at the high school level.
Preferred:
Teaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels to include full-time, adjunct, or graduate teaching assistant positions.
